Im letzten Newsletter haben wir Ihnen schon die Vorzüge des Tagungsortes und die attraktiven Spots der Stadt Frankfurt vorgestellt. Haben Sie sich schon ein Ziel ausgesucht?
Vom zentral gelegenen Tagungsort, dem ruhig in der Innenstadt am Börneplatz gelegenen Spenerhaus, erreichen Sie fußläufig viele Sehenswürdigkeiten: Den Kaiserdom, den Römerberg mit seinen schönen Fachwerkhäusern, das historischen Rathaus und die beeindruckende neu errichtete Altstadt. Auch die Einkaufsstraße „Zeil“ ist nicht weit entfernt. Die Kleinmarkthalle lässt Gourmetherzen höherschlagen und bietet eine besondere kulinarische Vielfalt. Zu den Museen ist es nur ein Spaziergang über den „Eisernen Steg“ auf die andere Seite des Mains zum Museumsufer, wo zwischen 1980 und 1990 26 Museen teilweise ausgebaut oder neu errichtet wurden. Auch das Senckenberg Naturmuseum ist ein Besuch wert. Lassen Sie sich die MYK in Frankfurt am Main nicht entgehen. Die Stadt ist mehr als eine Finanzmetropole und wird im September 2023 für drei Tage zur Metropole der medizinischen Mykologie im deutschsprachigen Raum.

Mit den Keynote-Lectures rückt die DMykG im Rahmen der Jahrestagung besonders aktuelle mykologische Fragestellungen und Themen in den Fokus. Wir freuen uns sehr darüber, dass wir dazu international renommierte Referenten gewinnen konnten, die wir Ihnen hier vorstellen möchten.

„Resistance, stress and tolerance“

Im Rahmen der Session Basic I: „Resistance, stress and tolerance“ präsentiert Dr. Paul E. Verweij in seinem Vortrag am Mittwoch, den 27. September 2023 von 17.00 bis 17.30 Uhr “Current aspects of fungal resistance and tolerance and clinical implication”

Dr. Paul E. Verweij, Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, NL

Paul Verweij is professor of Clinical Mycology at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He received his MD-degree at Leiden University and specialized in Medical Microbiology at Radboud University Medical Center. He is director of the Mycology Reference Laboratory and board member of the Center of Expertise in Mycology Radboudumc/CWZ. This Center of Expertise aims to improve the diagnosis and management of fungal diseases. Training courses are an important focus to increase the interest and capacity of health care workers in the field of fungal diseases. His research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of invasive fungal diseases, focusing on aspergillosis and other invasive mold diseases. Recently he has worked on triazole resistance in Aspergillus species. To facilitate epidemiological research in the area of triazole resistance, together with colleagues he set up the ECMM/ISHAM working group on Aspergillus Resistance Surveillance. „Viruses and fungal co-infections”

“Viruses and fungal co-infection” sind nicht erst seit der Corona-Pandemie ein Thema und vielfach eine besondere Herausforderung. Worauf es dabei ankommt zeigt Prof. Dr. Joost Wauters in seiner Keynote-Lecture am Donnerstag, den 28. September 2023 von 9.00 bis 9.40 Uhr unter dem Titel „CAPA and IAPA“ (Covid-19 associated pulmonary aspergillosis and Influenza-associated pulmonary aspergillosis)

„Paediatrics”

In ihrer Keynote-Lecture in der Session “Paediatrics” geht Prof. Dr. Adilia Warris am Freitag,
den 29. September 2023 von 8.30 bis 9.00 Uhr auf das Thema “Invasive fungal disease in children and adolescents with primary immunodeficiency” ein.

Prof. Dr. Adilia Warris, University of Exeter, GB

Adilia Warris is professor in paediatric infectious diseases with a specific interest in medical mycology an co-director of the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology at the University of Exeter and a consultant in paediatric infectious diseases in Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. Her research profile has a strong translational focus and specific areas of interest include the host-fungus interaction in specific patient groups with an emphasis on Aspergillus species; the unique interaction of A. nidulans and the CGD host, Aspergillus infections in people with cystic fibrosis, the development of new management strategies for invasive fungal disease in children, the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections in children, and the pharmacology of antifungals in paediatrics. She chairs the European Paediatric Mycology Network (EPMyN) through which post-graduate courses in Paediatric Mycology are coordinated as well as multi-center European studies to obtain a better insight in the fungal and clinical epidemiology of fungal infections in neonates and children. She is leading the Fungal Infection Scientific Content Area within PENTA Child Health and is the Chief Investigator of cASPerCF, one of the investigator-led studies in the conect4children (C4C) network funded by the EU. The cASPerCF study aims to describe the epidemiology of Aspergillus infections in childeren and young adults with cystic fibrosis and to validate a posaconazole dosing algorithm to treat those infections. Additional ongoing studies are focussing on the fungal and clinical epidemiology of invasive fungal diseases in neonates and children (EPMyN-EUROCANDY study), and paediatric antifungal stewardship (PASOAP study) (Quelle: University of Exeter)

In der Session “Taxonomy” am Freitag, den 29. September 2023 von 9.30 bis 9.55 Uhr erläutert Prof Sybren de Hoog „A conceptual framework and recommendations for nomenclatural stability in medically important fungi”

Prof. Sybren de Hoog, Radboud University Medical Center Nijmegen, NL

Sybren de Hoog studied biology at the State University of Utrecht. From 1971 onwards he is researcher in phylogenetic and ecological mycology at the Centraalbureau voor Schimmelcultures at Baarn, since 2000 in Utrecht and renamed as Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Instritute. Since 2017 he moved to the Center of Expertise in Mycology of Radboud University Medical Center and Canisius Wilhelmina Hospital in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He was professor of mycology at the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics of the University of Amsterdam, and holds visiting professorships at the Research Center for Medical Mycology, Peking University Health Science Center, Beijing, China, at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China, the Shanghai Institute of Medical Mycology, Changzheng Hospital, Second Military Medical University, Shanghai, China, the Basic Pathology Department, Federal University of Paraná State, Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, and the King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is special advisor of the Dermatology Institute in Nanjing, China. In 1974 he obtained his PhD (promotor: Prof. Dr. K. Verhoeff) with a thesis entitled ‘Revision of some genera of imperfect fungi’. Area of interest is the taxonomy, ecology and evolution of fungi, with emphasis on possible lines of adaptation to the human host. He has written over 800 scientific papers, in addition to the editing of symposia on yeasts, yeast-like and medical fungi in Amersfoort (1987), Atlanta (1992), Adelaide (1993) and Veldhoven (1996) and co-editing of the symposium on black yeasts at Vancouver (1994). Numerous special issues of journals were prepared, ao. of Studies in Mycology, Fungal Biolology, Medical Mycology, Mycoses, Fungal Diversity and Persoonia. He was program chairman of the TIFI/ECMM congress in Amsterdam (2003) and of the ISHAM Congress in Amsterdam, 2018. He has prepared an Atlas of Clinical Fungi (with J. Guarro, Reus, Spain), for which electronic versions with molecular data have appeared; the book will appear in print in 2020 with about 3000 pages. Chinese and Russian translations of this book are being prepared. Forteen chapters on filamentous yeasts were written for the book “The Yeasts” (eds C.P. Kurtzman et al.). He worked several months as a guest professor at the Research Center for Pathogenic Fungi in Chiba, Japan. He has been managing editor of the journals ‘Antonie van Leeuwenhoek’ and presently of ‘Mycoses’ and is member of the editorial boards of Mycopathologia, Mycological Progress and of the PubMed facility Faculty of 1000. He is scientific secretary of the Netherlands Society for Human and Veterinary Mycology, former member of the International Committee on Yeasts. Currently he is past-President of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM). In this function he assisted in the organization of ISHAM and satellite congress in Tokyo and Beijng in 2009. His teaching activities comprise the International Course Medical Mycology for hospital personnel, with editions in China and Brazil. Der Vorstand der DMykG e.V. lädt Sie herzlich dazu ein, makroskopische und mikroskopische Fotos von Pilzen einzusenden. Bitte reichen Sie nur Fotos ein, die medizinisch-mykologisch relevant sind bzw. im Zusammenhang zum Tagungsthema „Medizinische Mykologie“ stehen.
Bitte fügen Sie neben den üblichen Angaben zur verwendeten Färbung eine kurze Beschreibung bei sowie Ihren Namen und Anschrift. Die Fotos werden während der Tagung ausgestellt und von den Teilnehmer:innen gewählt.

Fotos können bis einschließlich 21. August 2023 über www.dmykg-kongress.de eingereicht werden (bis zu drei Fotos pro Einsender). Bitte beachten Sie, dass eine Teilnahme an der Tagung Voraussetzung für die Beteiligung am Fotowettbewerb ist.
Der 1. Preis ist mit 500 Euro dotiert. Der 2. Und 3. Preis mit jeweils 250 Euro.
